Mama Magnolia's

The pink houseboat smells like heaven. Mama Magnolia's kitchen heals all wounds, fills all bellies, and solves more mysteries than you'd expect.

The Pink Houseboat 🌺

You smell it before you see it: cayenne, butter, fresh bread, and something sweet bubbling on a stove. Then the houseboat rounds into view — a floating cottage painted violently pink, with flower boxes on every railing and a hand-lettered sign:

MAMA MAGNOLIA'S

"Come Hungry. Leave Happy. No Exceptions."

Strings of lights crisscross the deck. Wind chimes made of spoons and old crab pots tinkle in the breeze. A large, warmly smiling flower-crowned figure waves you over from the dock.

"BABY! Get yourself over here right now. You look like you haven't eaten in a WEEK. Clawdia! Set another place!"

From inside the kitchen, the rapid-fire clickclickclick of Clawdia's claws on a cutting board. "ALREADY ON IT, MAMA!"

The Menu

Mama Magnolia doesn't do menus. She decides what you're eating based on "the look of you." Today's offerings:

| Dish | Description | Secret Ingredient |

|------|-------------|-------------------|

| 🍲 Bayou Gumbo | The classic. Thick, spicy, soul-warming. | A splash of "Mama's mystery sauce" (she will NEVER tell) |

| 🫓 Buttermilk Biscuits | Flaky, golden, warm. King Snapper would trade his throne for these. | Love. Literally just love. And a LOT of butter. |

| 🦀 Clawdia's Crawfish Boil | Spicy, messy, magnificent. Clawdia does NOT hold back on the cayenne. | Clawdia's tears of joy (she cries while cooking. It's beautiful.) |

| 🍰 Magnolia Mud Pie | Chocolate. Layers. Heaven. | Whispered encouragement into each layer during baking |

| 🫖 Swamp Tea | Sweet, cold, restorative. Cures homesickness and mild existential dread. | Honey from the wild bees behind Firefly Grove |

"Eat FIRST," Mama insists. "Adventures on an empty stomach are just bad luck walking."

The Gossip Table

Mama Magnolia's isn't just a restaurant — it's the information hub of the entire bayou. Everyone stops here, everyone talks, and Mama hears everything. Pull up a chair after eating and listen:

What Mama Knows:

"Old Shell was in here yesterday, mumbling in his sleep again. You know what he said? 'The oak with the split trunk... that's where I put it... sixty years ago...' Then he woke up, ate four biscuits, and denied everything."

☝️ The split-trunk oak — that's where the third treasure piece is buried! Old Shell buried it there sixty years ago. You'll need this clue for Treasure Island.

"Bandit? That boy was in here trying to trade 'genuine Captain Crawdad artifacts' for gumbo. I told him, 'Bandit, that's a bottle cap with a face drawn on it.' He said, 'It's VINTAGE.' I fed him anyway."

"Professor Hoot hasn't slept in three days. He's still decoding those firefly messages. Bless his heart, that bird needs a NAP."

"King Snapper sent a messenger crawdad asking for 'twelve buttermilk biscuits, delivered to Crawdad Creek by sundown.' I sent six. He'll negotiate."

Old Shell's Corner

In the far corner of the houseboat, Old Shell is doing what Old Shell does best: napping in a rocking chair, a blanket draped over his shell, a half-eaten biscuit on the table beside him.

But you need to talk to him. The fireflies said he knows where the treasure is buried. Mama told you about the split-trunk oak. Now you need to hear it from the turtle himself.

You gently tap his shell.

...snrrk... "Wha? Hm? Is it Tuesday?"

"Old Shell, we need to ask you about Captain Crawdad's treasure. The third piece — the one you buried."

His old eyes go wide.

"Who told you about that? The bugs? The BUGS told you? I knew those fireflies couldn't keep a secret..."

He sighs deeply.

"Fine. Yes. Sixty years ago, the Captain asked me to bury the treasure cache under a tree. I chose the split-trunk oak by the old mill pond, near Misty Marsh. It's still there — hasn't moved. Trees don't generally DO that."

"You'll need the compass from Crawdad Creek to find the exact spot — the tree has THREE roots that look like hiding spots, and only the compass points to the right one. And you'll need the key from the Sunken Ship to open the lockbox I buried."

He pulls the blanket tighter.

"NOW can I finish my nap?"

Before You Go...

Mama Magnolia packs you a bundle: biscuits (for King Snapper, if you need them), a thermos of Swamp Tea, and a small jar of her mystery sauce.

"You bring that jar back when you're done, you hear me? That sauce takes THREE DAYS to make."

She also hands you a folded piece of paper — the Captain Crawdad's Gumbo Recipe that Gumjo found in the Sunken Ship galley.

"I've been looking for this recipe for FORTY YEARS. You tell that gator I owe him a cake."
