Zip's Speed School

Train with Zip the chameleon — camouflage drills, mud sprints, and a final exam race across Crawdad Creek.

🦎 Enrollment Is Instant

"Welcome to Speed School. Class length: however long until I get bored. Curriculum: go fast, look cool, don't crash into Professor Hoot."

Gumjo raises a claw. "What about safety?"

Zip: "Elective. Optional. Mostly theoretical."

🏁 Drill 1 — Camouflage Stand-Still

Standing still is torture for Zip. That is why it is lesson one.

Rules: Pick a background. Match it. Do not giggle.

BackgroundZip's tipTrap
Cypress barkThink "rough and patient"Bandit whispering jokes
Duckweed waterThink "green and floaty"Gumjo sneezing
Mama's tableclothThink "biscuit pattern"Hungry feelings

Did you pass?

If Bandit walked by and said "weird lump of moss," you passed. If he said "hey student," redo the drill — after a victory lap, obviously.

🏁 Drill 2 — The Honest Warm-Up

Zip demonstrates 47 stretches. You do 8. Gumjo does 2 and calls it physiotherapy.

Then: ten-second dash to the crooked post and back. Zip finishes before you understand the sentence. He still high-fives you so hard you spin.

"Speed is a mindset. Also genetics. Mostly genetics. But mindset too!"

🏁 Drill 3 — Mud Ethics

Zip insists the Mud Sprint at Gator Games is a sacred sport. Sacred sports apparently include bubble pits.

Choice point: Bandit offers you "performance bubbles" that may be soap.

🎓 Final Exam — Creek Circuit

Course: porch → duckweed alley → Crawdad Creek stone → back before Clawdia counts to twenty (she counts spicy-fast).

Exam results

Gold: You finish, upright, smiling.

Silver: You finish, muddy, laughing.

Zip Special: You finished in spirit while Zip finished in reality — still counts as enrollment alumni.

🏅 Graduation Gifts

Zip pins an invisible medal on you. "It is made of wind." Gumjo claps with his tail. Somewhere, Mama packs a snack for "my favorite reckless children."
