Who Is Clawdia?

Clawdia runs the kitchen at Mama Magnolia's restaurant. She is small, she is fiery, and she takes her cooking VERY seriously. Also Gumjo's cousin — the family tree is complicated and she prefers not to discuss it.

Her crawfish étouffée is legendary across three parishes. Nobody disputes this. Anyone who has disputed this was not fed again.

📜 History & Background

Clawdia trained under Mama Magnolia herself, working her way up from prep kitchen to head chef over fifteen years of relentless work. What Mama Magnolia doesn't know — or rather, knows but doesn't say — is that Clawdia surpassed her teacher around Year 10.

Mama Magnolia knows. She's deeply proud. Clawdia still acts like the student, out of respect. This mutual fiction is one of the most wholesome ongoing performances in the bayou.

Her navigation skills are a separate matter. The maps on her shell — intricate, hand-drawn, covering every waterway, hidden channel, and secret passage in the bayou — were drawn by her grandmother, who was the last great crawfish cartographer of the lower Mississippi system. Clawdia inherited them and memorized every line.

🎭 Signature Moments

The Étouffée Championship Defense — Every bayou creature has tried to replicate Clawdia's étouffée. None have succeeded. The closest attempt was Professor Hoot, who followed her recipe exactly but used the wrong water source. "Wrong minerals," Clawdia said, tasting it. "Also your roux was 12 seconds underdone." She was right on both counts.

"Gumbo of My Heart" — Clawdia's Gator Games Sing-Off entry remains the most polarizing performance in the event's history. It was passionate. It was loud. It involved aggressive washboard percussion with her claws. Ribbit Rose, who never gives high scores to competitors, gave it a 9.4.

The Portable Kitchen — At Treasure Island, before anyone had even finished reading the treasure inscription, Clawdia had somehow set up a portable kitchen and was making celebratory gumbo. Nobody knows when she did this or how she transported it. She won't say.
